Hi, this is Wayne Thume. I'm one of the programmers at Saturn Corporation and I'd like to show you some of our website design work. I've got about 5 minutes to cram in as much as I can and there will be links and other information that you can get after you listen to this.
OK, let's just jump right in. Here's a website we did for Mark Spradley. He was running for Comptroller of Maryland in 2006. He didn't win but the Baltimore Sun said that he had a very sophisticated website so we're very proud of that. If you look at this section that is about Mark Spradley, he wanted to intersperse within the text some audio comments so let me just play a little bit of one of them [audio plays] So you see that adding some nice clear audio helps add something more to his message.
Another thing that was important to Mark was his schedule. He wanted people to know where he was out on the campaign trail. As you can see there's nothing here in future events because the campaign is over but if you look at all events, you can see everywhere he was. We created a maintenance site for him so that he could go in and quickly add new events, look at previous events, donations, and things like that. Let me just click on the little calendar control. You pick the date you want. Then you pick the time; let me just throw something in here so you can see what's going on. And then you click on Add Event and there it is. So now if I go back and look at future events, I'll see the new event I just added. So it's just that quick for him to update his website.
Now if you go back to the [maintenance] menu, you can see some of the other options he had. One of them was to let you edit all events he had, so it gives you all events he had in a list and you can click on any of the columns to sort. So now it's sorted by location. I can sort by date and then if I click on it again it will sort it in reverse order so the one that I just added is right at the top and I'm going to go ahead and delete it.
Now let's jump over to McKinney Drilling. They're a company that specializes in drilling foundations and they're really proud of some of their high tech equipment and they wanted to showcase that in their website. We have a couple videos of some of their drills in action. Also, we wanted to show where their locations were across the country and you can click on that [flash map appears] A little bit of flash animation. It shows where it is with a phone number and if you click on it you get even more details with addresses, key people, and email links.
If I jump over to Careers, you can see what job openings they have. You can click here and get a list of the current positions available. Because they are a large organization with constant job openings, we setup a quick way for them to enter a password, select a PDF file from their computer, and upload it to the website instantly. That's worked well for them.
Now let's jump over to Colonial Electric. They're another large company with big jobs like town centers and developments and as a result they work with many subcontractors. The subcontractors had to come in to get the drawing specifications so that they could bid on a job and it was slowing down the process so we setup a Bid Board for them. Now they create this and maintain it themselves. You can see all the different projects. If you click here and have proper security, you can see all the drawings and specifications and this is done using FTP so people can drag and drop all the files onto their own computer and look at them. It saves Colonial a lot of time. They also have an extensive maintenance menu. If I go to the Spanish page, they can change whatever text they want. This is the text that is on the website. Obviously it displays better on the website. And then this Tips button here will give you some additional hints for making your text bold, italic, or underlined; it just is an aid to people doing maintenance to the site. They have a robust system for being able to maintain the site the way they want it to be.
Now lets go over to Breadline Africa. Oh, there's my timer so I'm running out of time. Let's quickly go through this. We don't do Breadline Africa's website but we do their donation page because they wanted it secured. Also we have their donation database so when they make a donation, we not only put the money in their account, we also update their database.
Now let's jump over to Saturn mobile. We also do mobile applications. If you have an iPhone and you go to www.saturncorp.com, you'll see this and this is something we've just started and I'm pretty excited about it since I have an iPhone myself.
